2020 SUPREME COURT UPDATE

Sponsored by

Presented by

PAUL AVELAR, ESQ.
INSTITUTE FOR JUSTICE

Please Register by Sunday, September 6, 2020

CLE OFFERED*

The United States Supreme Court issued many interesting cases last term which affect Americans in many ways. Paul Avelar will review the most interesting and significant of those decisions, with which attorneys should be familiar.
This CLE is great for not only SCOTUS buffs, but also for attorneys who enjoy learning about our country’s highest court.

Paul Avelar is the Managing Attorney of the Arizona office of the Institute for Justice (IJ).He joined the Institute in March of 2010.  He litigates free speech, property rights, economic liberty, school choice and other constitutional cases in federal and state courts.

In addition to litigation, Paul co-authored the most comprehensive study of economic liberty protections in the Arizona Constitution. He was appointed to the Task Force on the Review of the Role and Governance Structure of the State Bar of Arizona. Paul is a member of the Federalist Society Free Speech & Election Law Practice Group Executive Committee. He often speaks at law schools across the country about constitutional issues and his work at IJ.

Before joining IJ, Paul worked as an attorney in Philadelphia. He clerked for Judge Roger Miner on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Justice Andrew Hurwitz on the Arizona Supreme Court, and Judge Daniel Barker on the Arizona Court of Appeals. Paul graduated magna cum laude from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, and received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University.

The program will be presented via ZOOM. Instructions will be sent after the registration deadline closes by email.  You must sign into the event using the cell phone and email address you used to register in order for us to track your registration for CLE credit.
