Voting Attorney Member*
Qualifications: active member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona and (i) maintains an office for the active practice of law in the City of Scottsdale, the Town of Paradise Valley, the Town of Cave Creek, the Town of Carefree, or the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona, or on the reservation of the Salt River Pima Maricopa or Fort McDowell Indian Communities; (ii) is a member of the judiciary of any such municipality or Indian Community; (iii) is in-house counsel for an organization whose office is located in any such municipality or Indian Community; (iv) is an employee of any government agency whose office is located in any such municipality or Indian Community; or (v) is a dean or faculty member of an American Bar Association accredited law school located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Non-Voting Attorney Member
Qualifications: active member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona who does not meet the qualifications for Voting Member (i.e., does not maintain an office for the active practice of law, such as in-house counsel or those job hunting) or maintains an office outside one of the Voting Member jurisdictions).
Associate Member - Non-Voting
Qualifications: Note: Associate member does NOT mean an associate in a law firm! Associate Membership is available to any individual who is not eligible for Voting or Non-Voting Attorney Membership and who meets one of the following criteria: (i) any person who has been admitted to the practice of law before any federal court, or court of record in any of the states, commonwealths, territories or possessions of the United States, or in the District of Columbia, and who is not currently under suspension or disbarment in any jurisdiction; (ii) if not admitted to the practice of law as set forth in the preceding subsection, any person who is a graduate of an America Bar Association accredited law school; (iii) any Justice of the Peace sitting within the City of Scottsdale, Arizona; (iii) any Judge in good standing of the Tribal Court of either the Salt River Pima Maricopa or Fort McDowell Indian Communities; or (iv) any inactive or retired member of the State Bar of Arizona.
Nonlawyer Legal Service Provider Members (LLP) - Non-Voting
Any person licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona as a Legal Paraprofessional, Certified Legal Document Preparer or other person licensed to provide legal services in limited practice areas, shall be eligible to be a Service Provider Member.
Patron Members - Non-Voting
Any organization or other person who provides ancillary goods and services to the legal profession and who is approved by the Board of Directors as a Patron of the Association shall be eligible to be a Patron Member. Patrons of the Association may include, but are not limited to, certified public accountants, private investigators, court reporters, educators and professional consultants.***
Student Member**
Qualifications: Any law student in good standing at any American Bar Association accredited law school located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
*Only Voting Attorneys are eligible to vote in Board elections and sit on the Board of Directors. However, ex officio members of the Board of Directors are not subject to these limitations.
**You must be a student at the time your membership is approved. Please do not apply as a student or renew your membership as as a student member, if you have completed law school.
***Patron Member must designate an individual as the point of contact for the Patron Entity Membership.
Membership is for one year from the date your application is submitted.
Dues for attorneys, associate members, and licensed legal providers are $75 per year.
Student members are $10 per year.
Dues for Patron Members are $150 per year
