RSVP DEADLINE IS THE FRIDAY BEFORE THE LUNCHEON, AT NOON. In order to receive the pre-paid luncheon price of $25 for law student members/$30 for all other members/$35 for non-members, you MUST pre-pay with your credit card on the website BY THE RSVP DEADLINE. DO NOT MAIL IN CHECKS. If you make a reservation but do not pay on the website with your credit card, you must pay an additional $5 at the door ($30 for law student members/$35 for all other members/$40 non-members) by check or cash. After the registration deadline has passed, we do not take additional reservations. However, you may attend without a reservation as a walk-in, provided we have space. Capacity and spaces available are listed on the registration page. Walk-ins must pay $30 for law student members/$35 for all other members/$40 non-members, check or cash. Our capacity is limited, so we strongly recommend that you register by the deadline and prepay on the website using a credit card in order to ensure that you will have a place to sit and your requested meal.
Cancellation Policy:
You may cancel without penalty up until the registration deadline. If you cancel BEFORE the registration deadline, you will receive a credit on your Scottsdale Bar account, which can be applied to a future event. We do not give refunds.

If you prepay for the luncheon and cancel AFTER the registration deadline of NOON on the Friday before the luncheon, we cannot provide credits or refunds.

Reservations that are not prepaid by the registration deadline, and are either cancelled after the registration deadline or “no shows,” will be billed at the at-the-door price.

We are required to guarantee the number of meals to Gainey Ranch Golf Club, and we pay for those meals even if you must cancel after the registration deadline.

They will discuss the pros/cons of this option and the applicable laws and regulations. These speakers are uniquely qualified to speak on the subject. Their practice at the Provident Law® emphasizes representation of investors, property managers, and owners venturing into short term rentals.

Their presentation is timely now that fall is here and the winter visitor time is near. Recently this topic has also received considerable press coverage on proposed and actual laws.

Christopher J. Charles is the Founder and Managing Partner of Provident Law®. He is a State Bar Certified Real Estate Specialist and a former “Broker Hotline Attorney” for the Arizona Association of REALTORS® (the “AAR”).  He is also an Arbitrator and Mediator for the AAR regarding real estate disputes; and he served on the State Bar of Arizona’s Civil Jury Instructions Committee for four years where he helped draft the Agency Instructions and the Residential Landlord/Tenant Eviction Jury Instructions. Christopher is a licensed real estate instructor and he teaches continuing education classes at the Arizona School of Real Estate and Business.
 
Philip A. Overcash is an Attorney with Provident Law®.  Mr. Overcash practices in the areas of complex commercial and real estate litigation. He has successfully represented numerous international, national and Arizona-based corporations and individuals, government entities and insurance companies in a wide array of legal disputes involving real estate, contracts, construction defects, insurance coverage and bad faith, employment law, trademark and trade secrets, and appeals. Philip is admitted to practice in Arizona’s State and Federal Courts, and he is a Member of the Arizona State Bar Association and Maricopa County Bar Association.

FOOD:  Bring non-perishable food.  Keep in mind that we are approaching the holiday season, so items like cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin, boxes of stuffing, etc. are great ideas.  Access the Foothills Food Bank's wish list here:  WISH LIST

CASH: You can donate cash at the luncheon, and we will do the shopping for you. 

CHECK:  You can also bring a check payable to the Foothills Food Bank and we will deliver it with the donations. 




*The State Bar of Arizona  does not approve or accredit CLE activities for the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirement.  This activity may qualify for up to 1.0 hour toward your annual CLE requirement for the State Bar of Arizona, including 0 hour of professional responsibility.



When you register, you will be asked to indicate your meal choice: simply type REGULAR or VEGETARIAN (note the descriptions below).  If you require a special meal other than the regular or vegetarian selections due to dietary restrictions, please type in your requirements.

VEGETARIAN/VEGAN MEAL:  Grilled vegetable Napoleon w/ green tomatillo sauce
 

ALL MEALS SERVED WITH  Baby Spinach – craisons, feta cheese, creamy balsamic (GF) and pumpkin pie with non-dairy whipped cream (DF)

 

Share the fun!  Invite a friend to experience the networking, social and educational opportunities of the Scottsdale Bar Association!  Current members may invite a prospective member to attend an upcoming lunch for free.  Here are the rules:

1.  The guest must be eligible for membership in the Scottsdale Bar Association.  See www.scottsdalebar.org, click on Membership Information, then Membership Categories.

2.  The guest cannot be a former Scottsdale Bar member.

3.  The guest cannot have attended lunch for free in the past.

4.  The member must attend the luncheon with the guest.

5. The member must register him/herself for the luncheon, then contact Paige Martin at paigemartinesq@aol.com with the guest’s name and email address, and choice of regular or vegetarian meal, so that she can register the guest.  Member registration and the request for guest registration must be completed before the registration cut-off on the Friday before the luncheon, at noon.

6.  The member can only invite one guest to any luncheon.

7.  The member is responsible for following up with his/her guest after the luncheon to invite the guest to join Scottsdale Bar.

8.  The Board of Directors reserves the right to limit the number of guests attending each luncheon.
